Definition

Cardiovascular Metabolic Age is an estimate of subject's cardiovascular and metabolic health age, calculated using subject's chronological age and health indicators derived from a facial blood flow (TOI) measurement.

Background

Cardiovascular Metabolic Age is derived from a formula that combines subject's chronological age with health indicators estimated from facial blood flow information captured using TOI. This estimate reflects several contributing factors, including cardiovascular disease risk, metabolic health risks such as hypertension, diabetes and pre-diabetes risk, hypercholesterolemia, and hypertriglyceridemia, as well as cardiac health indicators such as cardiac workload and vascular capacity. Demographic information such as Body Mass Index may also contribute to this estimate.

Cardiovascular Metabolic Age serves as an indicator of subject's overall cardiovascular and metabolic health in comparison to their chronological age. A subject with a healthier lifestyle, lower cardiovascular and metabolic risk, and better cardiac health is more likely to have a Cardiovascular Metabolic Age lower than their chronological age. Likewise, a subject with higher cardiovascular and metabolic risk and poorer cardiac health may have a Cardiovascular Metabolic Age higher than their chronological age.
